Yes I owned one of those Highway Codes, the right hand corner one to start with but a car took me a lot longer to get on bus conductors wages:D

Top right hand corner this time Trevor, I had one of those. My first car was a second hand 1959 Vauxhall Victor in 'adobe beige' a sort of cream colour with powder blue upholstery. Pure rock 'n roll on wheels!

Helo fatfingers, the beauty of an old banger was that you could repair it yourself, and when it was running you could drive it rather than sit in traffic.

That model Viva was far better and more stylish than its predecessor . Big Vauxhalls ,in those days, always seemed magical to me . A bit of the USA about them. Nowadays they are just plain old Euro boxes.

Hello Arkrite, a friend of mine used to be allowed to borrow his dads car, a pale blue Vauxhall Wyvern, my god we thought we were the bees knees when we were out in it.

Richard,
I had a big Vauxhall given to me once,I think it was a Velox c1954,it had a busted gearbox,so I had to drive it about 10 mile in reverse where a garage in King Heath, put in a recon.gearbox for £7.However,the body work was as rotten as a pear, something to do with naff steel from Italy.

Even so, the later HC were a lot better than the early ones. I had J reg first, but then I got an M reg, with a bigger engine, brakes that actually stopped you, crossplys etc, world of a difference. Still no Radio though. lol
