Correct.
I think my mate was one the last people to run that place as a relief, I remember him showing me a little stream that runs through the cellar

Of course I believe you, look at Washford Mill, its got a whole mill race running through the cellar.

Your mate's is probably an early land drain that was run through the cellar in a gully. There are lots of them about.

I was only ribbing you.

I know that phil.
I always remember, he wanted to bottle it to sell in the pub:D
I hope he was joking:boohoo:

Thats probably why the pub closed down. I only ever used it once. I had a mate who lived next door by the bus stop in the sixties.

That’s never the Nechells Park Tavern? Just over Cuckoo Bridge off Lichfield Road? My mind must be playing tricks. I went there many a time. And the Reservoir. Maybe I’m getting old, but I seem to remember the surroundings (in the 70’s) being much more dingy and oppressive, and the pub much smaller.

Hi Paul

It definitely was the Nechells Park Tavern, Things were dingy and oppressive back then. Its the same pub with a lick of paint. I don't have an early photo of the pub, but I have this one of when it was still open
