Morrison Family, Birmingham

Hi,
I'm researching the Morrison family who were Scots and arrived in Birmingham to work around the late 1800s. John Morrison and his wife Margatret Wilson had a few children born in the city. A Mary, Helen, Henry and Abraham. The family lived at Lady Wood, and later, at 1 Legge Lane. Thanks Kiltie
 
not sure if you wanted any censuses for this family. in 1871 they were living graham st.
john morrison 48 manager steel pen works b. scotland. margaret 44 b. scotland
then 12 children all b. bham aged from 21 down to 2 yrs. they also had 2 servants living with them
 
in 1861 they were still in scotland 33 kilermont st.

john morrison was 39yrs a foreman bookseller and stationer, wife margaret was 40. james 8, jane ann 7, john 1 and william c. 7mths

in that case i will print the names of the children listed in 1871. ann jean 21, eleanor 0 20, john robert 18, margaret m 15, joan m 14, mary j 12, ellen c 10, henry e g 9, georgina s 7, abraham L 5, james 4, and joseph g 2

in 1881 they were living 1 legge lane, ladywood. john morrison 58 steel pen manager b. scotland. margaret morrison 54 b. scotland. eleanor 30, mary j 22, helen c 20, henry e g 19, abraham 15, james 13, joseph 12, and robert b bowker (grandson) 1. there was also a cook and housemaid living with them.

in 1891 they were still at legge lane. john morrison 68 steel pen manager. margaret 64, eleanor 40, helen 30, abraham 25 bank clerk, joseph 22 art student, and annie cameron (niece) 43. the children listed here were still single.

john morrison died in 1896 and margaret in 1899, both aston bham

Directories list John Morrison as being at 1 Legge lane in 1872 and up to 1896.
I note that just down the road (no number but after no 7) is Hughes George W.steel pen
maker (St. Paul's works). In the map c 1888 below , no 1 is marked in red. (Note Graham St ends where road changes in width, not further to the right as one might think -the charity school is in graham st) . You can see the pen factory marked further along the road

Hi Mike,
John Morrison's wife Margaret's brother was the Wilson in the form of Davidson Wilson & Amphlet, boxmakers, Mauchline (Ayrshire) and Birmingham. A few families went down to Birmingham from Mauchline to work and also some came north.
