Hi there

As the first suggests, It is a condition in which you literally waste away.
I believe it is linked to various terminal diseases.

St Vitus' Dance causes involuntary spasms/twitching of the limbs, and was so called because the saint of the same name apparently suffered from it.

Kind regards

Dave

I honestly didn't realise st vitus's dance was an illness as my parents used to say I had it because I would never keep still for more than a minute. Thanks for that I had forgot the saying till you brought it up. Jean.

Cachexia is a severe wasting disorder normally linked to advanced cancer,(Known as wasting disease)

GGJean, it seems we both suffered from the same disease, either that or ants in my pants, i was always being told " keep still" by my Mum.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chorea_(disease)

St Vitus dance is a symptom of rheumatic chorea and describes the involuntary muscle movements seen in the disease. A common legacy of the disease was valvular heart disesase that before the advent of open heart surgery eventually caused heart failure and in severe cases death.

Wasing disorder could as previously suggested be due to carcinomatosis but it may also refer to miliary tuberculosis (consumption) which sent many thousands to their grave.
