Lubrication In Moderation
I photographed the old photo today which was on the wall in a cafe on the High Street Erdington, 10 minutes later I took the other photo, I'd be standing on top of the hot potato man to be in the exact position.
About 1950's I'd say, corner of High St with New St.

Thanks for posting those photos Froth. It would definitely be early l950's.On Sundays when the High Street was deserted my brother and I would walk along, firstly on the Church side right down to the Village Green and then back again on the Woolies side. We attended Children's church at St. Barnabas at 10:00am every Sunday. I seem to remember a wine merchants on the corner of High Street and New Street.
I remember the Tudor style building on the Church side very well. There used to be a newsagents there who opened for a couple of hours on Sunday mornings. He would always leave a few left over newspapers on a rack after he had closed. My brother attended Sunday School in the National Schools
and so we always had a great time in there since the whole school was open for just a couple of classes. Happy days.

Morning all,
Here's the Roebuck about 1910.
