knowlegable brummie
Each year the Waterloo Association, the foremost group for the study of this famous battle, holds an event in the Midlands. This year it will be in central Birmingham, in the BMI, 9 Margaret Street, Birmingham, B3 3BS from 10am to 4.00pm.
There are four excellent speakers, all with an international reputation in their field.
Andrew Field: 'The Crisis: the attack of the Imperial Guard at Waterloo',
Gareth Glover: "Waterloo, Myths and Realities”,
John Morewood: “The Royal Navy and the War of 1812”,
Mick Atkinson: Médailles et décorations napoléoniennes.
The Birmingham Midland Institute is a beautiful Victorian building in the heart of Birmingham. It is within a few minutes walk from New street Station. There is no parking on site but the large Snow Hill Station car park is a few minutes away (B3 1EU). There are other car parks nearby.
Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided on arrival. Lunch is not provided. There is a small café at the BMI and, of course, being in central Birmingham there are many nearby food outlets.
The cost is £10 to WA members, £15 to non members.
Prior registration is essential through Eventbrite. Details and the link can be found on the Waterloo Association website www.waterlooassociation.org.uk
