Nice photo from 1931 of the police on their fast BSA bikes to combat the ever-rising flood of car thieves and to chase smash and grabbers
 
Lovely photo.

My Dad was one of the first on the 'reformed' motor cycle police in the late 50s/early60s.He rode a BSA Gold Flash or Goldstar.

The first day they came out it snowed and they rode round and round the fountain at Gosta Green for the press photos
The police museum website has a photo of it.
