Someone on another site is asking if anyone knows what happened to the old Christening Font from St Phillip's Cathedral ???.
Seems a few years ago it was deemed too large for the church and was replaced by what the enquired described as a "large egg cup" and rather ugly new one :

When the enquirer asked the Verger and another lady (who were in the Cathedral at the time) about it they both shrugged and said they had no idea what had happened to it and that there was no requirement to have such things recorded in the church records.
Does any one on this site know where and when it was removed, or is that just another one of Birmingham's historic icons gone for ever :'(
