Sir Michael Parkinson

I was a latecomer to TV, but when we did get a set Parkinson was not to be missed. One of the greats indeed.
 
Those interviews were really top class and there is nothing to compare with his shows now. Parky also had a great love of cricket, playing for Barnsley with Dickie Bird and Geoff Boycott. His father often came to his TV shows and once told him this (about his TV career), 'You've made a bob or two without breaking sweat. But, think on. It's not like playing for Yorkshire, is it?' :) RIP Parky!
