Hello Wendy, I thought Mere Green Road was too far out for the forum but when I saw the name I wondered if anyone would remember the fire at Hill Church around 1945 0r 46. Nobody can tell me anything about it, and there is nothing in the church books, but as I accidently started it I've often wondered why it was a big secret. We were cleaning out an old stable to start the new scouts group and burned out the cobwebs with candles tied to our scout poles and went home hence the fire. Regards, David
