Hello, I am new on here and am hoping that someone could tell me if it's possible to find out where my great grandmother worked in 1899 as she is listed as being a Domestic Servant in Handsworth on her son's (my grandfather) birth certificate. He was illigitimate and she had him in the Workhouse at West Bromwich .......... I thought if I could find out where she worked it might throw up a clue as to who his father might be? Would there be records of employees kept that we might find her name on? I have been in touch with the Union Workhouse, West Bromwich but apparantly they had a fire and most records were destroyed!
