    'South Bank' on Harborne Road

Walking along Harborne Road this morning (just after the junction of Augustus Road and Chad Road and where Harborne Road curves round to the right), I noticed a bit of wall which looks like it has an old fireplace embedded in it or similar. I haven't noticed it before as it's been covered in...

    Pioneers of Lawn Tennis

It has been suggested that Gem and Perera may no longer be regarded as lawn tennis pioneers as the game they were playing was an outdoor version of Rackets. This meaning also that their club, formed 1874, in Leamington Spa may no longer be regarded as the first lawn tennis club in the world...

Does anyone remember the name of the pub just past the Five Ways island on the edge of Hagley Road. It was near to Horts wine bar and where Morrisons is now. It was pub where it had a long staircase leading up to it.

    Thomas Odams: Prodigal Son

Can anyone help with information about Thomas Odams, the son of Richard Odams: ‘baker, flour dealer’, 72 Wellington Road, Edgbaston (General & Commercial Directory of Birmingham 1858). Thomas migrated to Australia in 1857 on the Algiers. Sadly he committed suicide in South Australia in 1879. I'm...

    22 Highfield Road, Edgbaston

The white stucco building at 22 Highfield Road, Edgbaston has been having a partial demolition around it for the last year or so. It used to be used as offices (I think). Think they removed a garage on the right, and two side doors to the back. Here is is 2 years ago in February 2012 A...

Nineteenth Century Unitarian School Frederick Road

I am really interested in a reference to a “small private day school in Frederick Road, Edgbaston, kept by the Misses Martins, two Unitarian ladies of considerable culture”. This is where Constance Naden attended for a number of years, circa 1866 to 1874. I have been unable to find any...

Church of St Mary and St Ambrose, Pershore Road, Edgbaston

While in Edgbaston I got a few shots of the Church of St Mary and St Ambrose on the Pershore Road. They came out a bit dark (and have tried to fix them). Was mainly around Edgbaston to get updates of the Cricket Ground before it's officially opened by the Duke of Edinburgh. Church of St Mary...

    Calthorpe Estate, Edgbaston

Are there any maps of Calthorpe Estate, Edgbaston other than avalable from Alan Godfrey, Cassini & Mapseeker? I have also drawn a blank on Archive County Maps. I am interested in details of the Calthorpe Estate in the early 1800s, but as a last resort I am working backwards from a later Alan...

    Woolley - gillott road 1930's

I am trying to trace relatives of Lilian Bertha Woolley who lived with her children Donald, Betty, Audrey and Trevor at 114 Gillott Road Edgbaston in 1939. It is part of some family related research around the house owner who was Charles Herbert Bryant.
