Yesterday’s prices…today?

Some of that is that prices have gone up across the board over the years but some of it is also about new technology. Colour TV broadcasts only really started in 1969. Around the same time there was a switch from VHF to UHF (something else you needed a new TV for). The colour sets would have had Colour and UHF (there was no colour on VHF) so that would have pushed the price up more. Add to that, the internal workings of a TV set would have been a lot more expensive then. An equivalent TV would be cheaper - for example https://www.currys.co.uk/products/jvc-lt24c490-24-hd-ready-led-tv-black-10188051.html - Slightly larger and £99.
