99a Lozells Road. I would be grateful for any information or photos of the pub which was renamed in 1906 when taken over by Mitchell and Butlers. It was run by my Great grandfather Daniel Greening, died 1913. His son Stanley kept it going for a year before emigrating to Canada.

In the 1906 Kellys directory No 99 Lozells Rd (no 99a) is listed as Daniel Greening Beer Retailer.
" " 1921 " " " " " " " " " Mrs Lousia Hammond Beer Retailer
" " 1933 " " and through till 1956 ( now numbered 99a ) the pemises are listed as being Jas Rowbotham. Butchers. Max

Daniel was at 99 Lozells road back as far as 1890, in 1888 it being a different landlord

I'm afraid i cannot find any listing of a name for the pub in the directories. I have also found the relevent listings in the 1861.71.81.91 & 1901 censuses, and all these just list either beer retailer or publican for the landlord, with no name given.
Mike

Dear Mike,
thank you for this. Daniel and family returned from Indian railways 1890. His father was Daniel, plasterer, who lived in Dudley and Aston before Daniel went out to work on the railways, senior ended up in Aston Workhouse, but I have no information on Daniel Senior other than in the 1851 census.
regards
Alan
