Not sure if the post office building was part of the Ideal Village. I have lots of memories of the area though a bit later than this photograph. By the mid 50’s the PO had aquired 2 telephone boxes to the right and a red pillar box on the corner.Mr Richards and his wife ran the PO then. We were often there buyng stamps and postal orders. As kids we would find empty pop bottles behind the phone boxes and return then for the deposit money.
Interesting to see the terrace row before Blakeland Street as there appears to be only one shop front on the corner.I think there were 4/5 by the 50’s.
My Dad lobbied the Council for the bus stop and the crossing that can be seen in the street view and there used to be a little marker by a tree there in his memory out side the surgery. I don’t know if it is still there. Tinpot
