WW1 Death Certificate.

Hope this is not too daft a question.

If a person died ( not KIA or of wounds ) while in serving in France during WW1. Would a death certificate have been issued, with a cause of death, other than on his service record, and if so, where could I find a copy ?

Hi Col,

The General register office keep the records of Overseas BMD, including army returns from consulates. Although I understand not all were registered.

P.S. Col,

I see the find my past site has a searchable database for GRO War Deaths -Army Other Ranks 1914 to 1921.
