Firstly, apologies for posting my first message to the wrong section! Sorry! :)
I am wondering if anyone else is researching the same family of Wright's as me?
William Wright married Ann Humpage at St. Mary's, Handsworth 7th Nov. 1836. By 1840 they were living at Houndsditch where their first son, William of course, was born.
I have been trying to trace William parents for ages. I saw the original marriage entry for William and Ann in the Central Library some time ago and it stated that he was"Jnr" therefore indicating that his father was also William and was alive at the time of the wedding.
Both Ann and William Jnr. were given as gun polishers.
We have recently traced her parents to living at Moor Green Mill, Kings Norton but can't find out any more about the Wright's prior to the marriage.
I would love to hear from anyone who is interested in the same familes or can offer any clues as to where to search next. They truly are my "brick wall"
Best wishes,
Shirley

Re: Endless William Wright's!

Hi,

My Grandfather was William Wright, better known as Bill. Lived in Birmingham. I've found out that his Father, also William Wright was a Master Farrier. Apparently lived at Cattel Road and was the 1st man in Birmingham to get a divorce but not sure if any of this is true!

Re: Endless William Wright's!

i dont know if this is any help but i found your william jnr with wife and son in buckley st. whitechapel and as he was around 30 yrs old i guessed his father had to be born around 1780`s.

checked staffs worcs and warks for william wrights abt that age who are gun polishers. some didnt give occupation but there is one which could match. living in brewery st. bham william wright b. 1781 gun polisher. his son? george is with him aged 15 also a gun polisher.

have found an igi record for george wright b. 9 oct 1826 in bham. father william wright mother ann. there is also an igi for william abraham wright b. 30 jan 1809 with father william wright mother ann.

also a long shot of a marriage in st.martins

william wright to hannah cawood 4 april 1804 which would make the former william about 25 yrs old.

Re: Endless William Wright's!

Hi, sorry for the late "thank you" but have been on holiday for the past 2 weeks or so.
Not had the chance to look into the details sent through but just wanted to thank you both. The William that you found in Buckley St. Whitechapel Shera is the right one. Will try to find out more about George now. The search goes on.......................if only they had though to give all the William's a middle name life would be so much easier!
Best wishes,
Shirley
