Wood John (glassmaker) Decendents of

Tracing my gt-gt-granddad John wood wife Phebe. He died 1881 buried in holy trinity Anblecote, His daughter Phebe Married Charles a Petford. On gravestone there is a Mary A** Wood died 18** headstone in poor condition could be his mum. Have got a list of his other children anyone got them in their tree.

Jane wood, Joseph wood, John wood, Jacob and Esaw (twins) Henry wood finally Thomas plus phebe elizabeth my gt-gran.:):)

Hi Peanut15, I don't know if you have this information - from 1861 census
John Wood age 52 b. 1809 - is manager of Flint ?? worker,
Phoebe age 47
Elen? - son age 21 glass maker.
Thomas George 14 Iron Trade. - Henry Wm age 12 Scholar - Richard E. age 9 - Elizabeth P age 2 - and 1 servant.
All living 3 Lever St. Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire.
Couldn't find them in 1871.

Hi Peanut 15, I assume as you say that the headstone is in poor condition that you have visited Holy Trinity. If you haven't I only live up the road so if you need a photo I would be happy to oblige.

Thanks sheri not got that detail . 1851 hes a manager in glass works. 1841 have a christening of his son Joseph Wood at Brierley hill stafford 1881 only him and his daughter phebe living together in dudley.

Hi dipseydiva, have not visited the church, but went on its website and a Martin fisher kindley supplied me with a transcript of the headstone plus pictures, it is of sandstone overgrown at the moment but the gardeners have yet to tidy it up. It's easy to find as its next to the church by the path.
I may call on you if as i believe there may be more of my relatives ther as in the same grave is a Mary A** Wood died 18something this might be his mum.
His daughter married a Charles Petford who i know is buried in a private grave at Handsworth old church again i believe more Petfords are interred there
