Witchford Airfield

GER22VAN

master brummie
Witchford Airfield was close to Witchford Village near Ely in Cambridgeshire. I just recently found information on the Web about this Airfield which may be of interest.
Just type in Witchford Airfield for a Web Search.
Witchford Airfield is now named as Lancaster Way.
Mepal Airfield was just up the road from Witchford Airfield.

Least We Forget.

I have a feeling that a recent Antiques Roadshow was filmed here, if I remember right there is a museum which was set up by some local men or maybe ex RAF personnel it looked very interesting.

RAF personal who were convalescing from the RAF Hospital at Ely dueing the war did so at the Bishops Palace on the Palace Green. They wore a distinct red tie with their blue uniforms.
Lancaster Way Business Park now stands were parts of the runways originally were.
