I have Wimblett connections, and have been researching this family with on-line contacts, for a number of years.

Late 18th and early 19th century Wimletts and Wimbletts came from the Aston Cantlow, Wootton Wawen, Henley, Tanworth in Arden and Stratford on Avon areas of Warwickshire.

Later generations settled around Knowle, and one particular family became 'boat-people' working the Grand Union Canal.

We know that a number of Wimletts and Wimbletts settled in Birmingham. IGI treats the two spellings as different surnames, but they are in fact the same name. Many other variant spellings can be found.

For those who might be interested in these family names (originally WIMBLETT), we have traced this family via North Gloucestershire (mickleton and nearby villages) to Pirton, Wiltshire, in the late 16th century.

Re: Anyone with Wimblett or Wimlett familily connections?

We had as neighbours two brothers and their father called Wimlett when we lived in Lapworth, a third brother was killed during the war he was in the RAF.
