It looks very much like it. When I started work back in 1959 at the Birmingham Cooperative Society, my father worked at fresh fruit and greengrocery warehouse in Sherlock street the eagle and ball pub was opposite the warehouse. My father frequently ate his dinnertime sandwiches there. I've also been in there on occasions. When the markets area was being refurbished an attempt was made to remove the eagle and ball and reposition it in the new markets area. Unfortunately nobody took account of the weight of the eagle and it's ball with result that it was smashed during the removal. It was a robust concrete structure and very heavy. The net result was that the flat bed truck broke and eagle and ball met the floor. I don't know if any attempt was made to repair it. Hope this helps in some way, regards mayne knott
Sorry bit off topic. I am researching my family tree (Williams) and I have both my grandad and great grandad listed as Fruiterers at Sherlock Street so if you know any more about the company that would be really appreciated.
