Hi Dianne,, best to put a bit more information for folks to look-up this guy to help you, What age would he be in 1943 ? do you know where he was born ? is he married, has children ?, Where did he live in B,ham (From birth to ? if you know any area it helps ) 1943 War time, evacuated child ? or was in any of the Forces ?,, as I said earlier every bit of info helps. on the electoral rolls in 1939 theres a william tilson (the elder) and william tilson (the younger) living 272/274 bradford st. deritend

in 1945 theres a william tilson living 95 tavistock rd. hall green
also a william c tilson living 77 ashbrook rd. moseley
also a william tilson living 1 phoenix villas, varna rd. edgbaston

hope one of these is your person. no electoral rolls for 1943 so these are the nearest.
