William Street North

I thought it might be a good idea to start this thread, there are so many William Streets I even came across one in Saltley. The image identified as Court 6 is very difficult to correlate to the court shown on the 1889 map.

Hi Lyn, I'm collating the images for William Street (Lozells) at the moment, there are several I can't give a definitive location for and I suspect they are from other William Streets such as the one for J.F. Ratcliff (Metals).
William Street North is such a short street yet like many it is/was full of character.

yes john i noticed the problems you are having..we do have a member who lived in william st lozells but he does not log on very often..will have a look to see if i can help

This seems to be the only Victorian building left in the street, any of the other buildings look mid-1900s. Think it must have once been the Royal George pub. The blue road sign on the wall looks quite old, although think the sign must be early/mid 1900s. Viv.

These are from SteveBhx’s thread of old Birmingham photos. The second image posted by pjmburns is an earlier Streetview image than that in post #5.

If I’ve got this right, William Street North is the Road running from left to right behind the building in Steve’s 1971 photo. Viv.
