William Reid Mackie

RRJ

Brummie Boomer
William Mackie was a manufacturer of pigeon leg rings.

I have his residence in Sutton Coldfield in 1939 reg as was his fathers (same name) in 1911 census, so at least
a two generation business.
Unless the business isn't called 'Mackie' I'm struggling to find the location of the business, or is it from home?

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Bob

In the 1939 Kellys the only pigeon ring makers listed in Birmingham were Carter & Co, 38 Howard St. But note Sutton Coldfield would not then have been included in Birmingham, They existed in Birmingham from the 1912 Kellys . In 1910 there were no pigeon ring makers listed, but up till 1908 there was a Mackie Bros , pigeon ring makers, ai 198 Witton road.

Have you looked for him on 1921 census? Employers details should be listed so it might help.
No, because I didn't expect to glean a works address.

Ok, just have, William (senior) 212 Witton Rd Aston , so did move address.

William (junior) Garage manager at Carmalt Lang & Co.

On the 1911 census he is a tool maker
On the 1939 reg he is a Pigeon ring manufacturer, presumably took over his fathers business.
