Hi all, I am trying to trace the parents of Thomas Wilknson born about 1863 who married an Elizabeth Harris in 1885. Her fathers name was George. On the marriage certificate Thomas's father's name was William Wilkinson (Deceased) but as Thomas and Elizabeth were living at the same address when they got married I have no other way of tracing William.
I have not been doing this very long and any assistance would be gratefully received.
Thanks all Jazz:(

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hi, Thanks for the replies, the 1891 census is definately correct with Thomas and Elizabeth but I am still unsure which one of the couples are the parents, William and Sarah or William and Maria. Thomas's father was definately deceased in 1885 so where do I go from here please.? how do I know which one is right, Oh dear!
Once again thank you "Di" and "Ladylinda" so much for taking the time to help me and good luck. Jazz:)

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hello Jazz, I didn't show Thomas's father Williams occupation, he was a labourer. Does the marriage certificate give an occupation for William? That is often a help in making sure you have the correct family. I also forgot to note that William was born in Tipton, Staffordshire, you will need to know this if he is your William.

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hi there, the father (William) and mother (Sarah) of Thomas, that I found were both born in Worcester,as was the eldest son Charles Henry.Worcester was sort of "nearer" Birmingham then, though.Kings Norton, Yardley and Balsall Heath I think were classed as Worcester for instance!

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hi, Thanks for the replies, I dont think that William and Maria are the right parents as William is still living with Maria in the 1891 census and on the marriage Certificate 1885 William is Deceased so I have come to the conclusion that it must be William and Sarah.
Thank you both for your help What would I do without you.
Take care and thanks again Jazz.:)

Hi Jazz, I know I have asked about this name many times, but still haven't found what I am looking for, so I am hoping that you may be able to help. Do you have an Esther Wilkinson in your tree, married to Robert green please?

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hi newbie
just read your request on the wilkinsons family i was taken under the wing of
A mr and mrs e. wilkinson of 32 woodcroft avenue handsworh wood in the year of 1958
and they had one daughter and they had a fancy goods shop in gerrard st and on the corner of angelselys st
and if i can think hard enough he had some brother or brother inlaw ,which i am not to sure of which
way but i met him loads of times and worked for them both
along both sides they both had bussinesss as well tom ha is down long acre aston nechells
and george had is in king edwards rd ladywood just up from hockley brook where the shop was
tom had connections to aluminuim die casting in long acre , and george was an aluminuim bench die casting at king edwards rd
i used to travel with george . and go to his house at wood croft rd handswoth wood
it was just along the rd from noel gordens big house
so it may be worth asking some-one or your self to do a cencus run on that addrees for that period
1958--59 ; i also the wilkinsons family lived in adderly street by the gate pub
best of luck Astonian ;;;

Re: Thomas Wilkinson

Hi, thanks for your message. I don't live in Birmingham so don't know any of the districts. Esther Wilkinson was born in 1780's so it is a long way back from the people you mention. Esther married a Green in 1800's.
I had a message from someone last year saying that there was a Seth Green born Deritend Warwick, and his parents were Esther and Robert Green, so I think it must be the ones I am searching for. I just can't find Esthers parents. There are none on the marriage certificate. Thanks again though, I do appreciate peoples help.
