Hi I'm looking into the Wilkes family, my grandmother was Amelia Wilkes1895-1971, I think her maiden name may have been Middleton. she married Alfred William Wilkes (known as Alfred) 1883-1966. They had 4 daughters. If anyone has any info I would love to heard from them. I only remember they liveing in Witton in the early 60s.

The Amelia Wilkes that died in Birmingham 1971 was Amelia Jane Wilkes born 1st September 1889.
There is an Amelia Jane Middleton birth registered Oct 1889 Birmingham.

Thank you again:)

The William A wilkes who died in birmingham 1966 was 75 yrs old so that makes his birthdate around 1891.there are quite a few william Wilkes on the census that could fit so it would be beneficial to get the marriage certificate from birmingham, cost about £7.
We will then be able to find him for you.

This would fit in with the William who died in 1966 age 75.

If he was born on December 25th 1890 he would not have had his 76th birthday by the time of his death in 1966.

If he was born on december 25th 1890 he would not have been registered until the next quarter (1st quarter 1891)

William Alfred Wilkes registered 1st quarter 1891 Jan/Feb/Mar Aston
reference 6d 413.

my Grandfather was Samuel Wilks. He wa a soldier in the Royal Warwikshire regement,he passed away in 1947. and lived in Station Road Witton. Bobby b

jp909, look at the GEC WITTON thread there is a ROGER WILKS posting on that topic, it may be you are related?

Hello all.
I am looking for information on the Wilks (Wilkes?) family who in the 1901 census were living at 246 Aston Brook St.
John Wilkes was born c1848 in Newport, his wife Jane was also born there. The children were all born in Birmingham. They were, David, Amelia, Florence and Gertrude Lily who was my Great-Grandmother. I would love to know if any of the family stayed in the Aston area.

My Grandmother was a Alice Matilda Wilks, she was a French Polisher along the New Town Road. She Lived in Station Road Witton,She had 3 children Doris Samuel,Alice. Her Husband was a soldier in the Roayal Warwicshire regement.when he came out of the army he worked at the Eagle Range Witton BB

I am related to said Roger Wilks. I am also trying to search for our Wilk(e)s ancestors. The names you mention do not ring any bells, not to say they aren't related in some way - I will keep searching to see if there is a link! Our Wilk(e)s line seems to originate from Worcestershire though.

My Wilkes was William Alfred Wilkes Born 25th Dec 1891 married Amelia Middleton 1914
