Although not located in Birmingham, Whitacre Pumping Station at Shustoke played a major part in supplying Birmingham with fresh water before it’s supplies were drawn from the Elan Valley. It’s part of a wonderful set of buildings (now in the hands of the Severn Trent Water Authority), but the pumping station is now sadly in the heritage at risk category. Let’s hope it doesn’t get lost forever. Viv
