Which cemetery?

Doed any one have suggestions which cemetery Elizabeth Parkes might be buried in? She was born June 1830 and died 29 Oct 1881. At that time they lived back of 124 Dudley Road.

Any information is appreciated.

Thank you,
SR

if she lived in dudley rd during that period and she did not have wealth there is every chance
that she would have been put in the poor mans grave at key hill which would have been the norm
one of my old ancesters during the 1800.s a member of the jelf family lived in
the court houses at five ways during that period, and when he died he was buried in the poor mans grave
which was or still is listed in the central libary and i got the confromation from handsworth cem ,on paper tellig me where it was [ the plot ] but since then in the last two years they have removed some of the poor mans graves
under the century clearance of the 100 years old graves
and the next cem would have been witton where the first bank note frauster was burried right behind the wall at witton in he same period of the 1800,s but if i am correct there was one cem i beleive was many years ago
over by what was known as little bromwich cememtrybut i think that was for the people of aston ; mainly
in the early years of 1800.s or the early 1900.s but my money would have been
key hill the middle class people with money would have been warstone lane in those days until later years when every body would sooner or later could have been burried there
have a nice day every body best wishes Astonian ;;;

View attachment 49959It is always difficult to locate graves and can be a hard search. If the family were non conformist it would more likely be Key Hill, if not as others have said Warstone Lane, Handsworth or Witton.
Then again if the family had a grave it could be in a churchyard. I have recently found my gt grandfather buried in Aston Parish churchyard. This was after the graveyards were closed so a complete surprise. A good way to find final resting places is to look through obituaries often the cemetery is mentioned, sadly as you live in Canada it may be difficult as they are not online. Newspapers are held at Central Library it may be worth contacting them but you have to pay for research. Another note is Key Hill was often referred to as the General Cemetery or The Old Cemetey and Warstone Lane was sometimes referred to as The Mint Cemetery.

Astonian the public graves (not poor man's graves) at Key Hill have not been removed in fact they are being restored by Memsafe. Burials in public graves still had to be paid for. The family paid more if they wanted the name added to a memorial. Some graves were removed in the 1950's and some were buried. Some graves have been laid down by health and safety recently but non removed. Both Key Hill and Warstone lane have people from all walks of life and are closed for burials now. Key Hill mainly non conformist and Warstone Lane was C of E. I hope people haven't been confused by this.

There is an Elizabeth Parkes on this list - maybe worth considering

https://www.hunimex.com/warwick/mi/mi_hockley_st_pauls.html

And an Emma Elizabeth Parkes on this list

May be worth looking at to see if you recognise any other names from your family tree.
There are more people buried in the cemeteries than on these lists (these are just names taken from memorial stones ??? I think) so don't rule them out just because a name isn't listed.

Sorry - does not look like Key Hill - Many Parkes, but only 3 Elizabeths - none to match the date.
Elizabeth 1941 I 132 57121 5 MI

Elizabeth Ann 1933
L 226 55270

Elizabeth Seymour 1906 C 311 46156
I would try Handsworth cemetery on [email protected] or 0121-554-0096
They can check Warstone Lane & Handsworth Cemeteries.

Key Hill is missing several Public Graves - in C Section, where the wall has been rebuilt at the top of Key Hill Drive - the corner on your left as you face the Metro memorial - Presumably buried when the wall & buttresses were done.

Will try your suggestions and let you know what I find....
Elizabeth was 2X gr. grandmother, born at Honiton, Devon.
