Where was Alum Street Balsall Heath?

Hi,

I have a Service Record for my Grandfather. In the information his children are listed as being born in Alum Street. From what I can gather it does not exist any more.
I've also tried to find it on an old map of Balsall Heath but no luck.

Can anyone here tell me where it was?

I have never heard of an Alum St in Balsall Heath. Are you sure its not Hallam St which ran from Mary St To Edward Rd. When spoken they could be mistaken for the same word.

Well it looks nothing like Hallam Street. Another child is listed as born in Abbey Road.
and the 'A' looks the same. Plus there is no double 'l'. As you say it may be that he was miss heard. My Grandfather was literate so you might think he would see the incorrect spelling.

I'll just have to troll though the Church records an see if I can find a christening.
