Smack on Jean! Don't know about the clock but pencilled on the back of the card is "D.S. Groot. 1927 Bingley Hall Exhibition. Wonder who D.S. Groot was and why Galloways should produce this post card. Is the nice period Bovril advert a clue I wonder.

Could it be de Groot? I found this reference to an orchestra after much searching:
"[SIZE=-1]I also don't have much information on de Groot's Band. The band did make quite a few recordings for His Master's Voice in the 1910s and the label on this one indicates that "Herr de Groot" was conducting. As far as I can tell, however, the band was based in Britain and not Germany."
This link may work if you have RealPlayer:

Thanks Lloyd,
Only quotes D.S.Groot but reckon you are right as the band leader seems definitely centre stage to the camera and could be Herr de Groot himself. The name sounds more Dutch than German though.
