Where is This? 41

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
Another country scene, as before there are some still recognisable features.

No sorry not this time, I am still looking for somewhere that is not too self evident.

O.K. time for a clue. This location is a little to the west of the last four guesses. The cottage on the right with the woman standing in the gateway is still standing today, but the surrounding scene is somewhat changed.

Thats the one, how changed is that location? They still have quite a few old buildings in the locality. They still have those lovely old cottages just under the railway brdge up Lincoln Rd there.

That's what I thought of after your clue, it's one of the few parts of Birmingham where you can still imagine what it was like years ago when it was still 'out in the country'.

Phil,

'Of course, I can see it now'. How many times, once I know the answer, do I say that to myself.
I should have known it, I turned into that road often enough, when I lived in Olton.
That short section of old cottages by the bridge really do take you back to another era. As do the railway cottages by Stechford station.

I took this photo about 12 months back for someone on this forum who wanted one. Looking at it its only the car and the tv aerials that date it to this century.

I dont think these or the cottage on the photo are listed or protected buildings. At least I have never heard it mentioned, of course some one may know different.

Phil,

It's nice when we you do find these locations in Birmingham. Another one that surprised me, when I went to look at it for someone else, is the row of cottages by St. Cyprian's Church Hay Mills. A great big Asda across the road, the large traffic island. Such a surprise when you drive down to the church.
