Where is This? 22

Phil

Gone, but not forgotten.
Another easy one for those tram chasers. Even I know where this is.

5 ways? It's been over 50 years since I was down that way, was that Aston, can't remember now.

tardebigge,

Your first choice was good enough, Islington Row, Five Ways it is,

Phil

It certainly looks like Islington Row facing us there. Broad St to the left, the tram lines coming from Ladywood Road behind the camera.
Oh, and the tram is a 33, the Ladywood route which was converted to bus 30th August 1947, so the photo is before that!

The information I have is this, Car 738 is turning out of Islington Row and turning towards Ladywood Rd on the last day of service. The car has just passed over the site of the junction of the one time Hagley Rd route that closed in 1930

Phil

That's correct Phil - The Hagley Road route would have come up Islington Row the same, but gone behind the clock and up Hagley Road (obviously!)
The bus in the background is a 1930s Midland Red 'FEDD' type (Front Entrance Double Deck) also no doubt heading for Hagley Road.

I must be getting better at identifying these old photos. Just goes to prove drinking milk instead of Rum improves the brain somewhat... lol
