HI GUYS
I have reason to beleive that pub was down the digbeth area but with the change of district
way back years ago it would have been in those days the bottonm of the bull ring
and along from the old jamica row where all the fruit and veg wholesalers was and if i can get my head around it
as a id remember some where seeing this pototoe merchants and it was in the very early fortys and fifties that sign was still there above the property yes it was possible that the merchant was trading in years bfore that
and i have reason to beleive it was close to what we know as digbeth high st and it was on the corner before you went across to old jamica row as i know this sounds daft but at the time when i seen this place and the crown sign i thought if he was granted the crestfor trading in spuds why is he away fromthe restof the whole salers
and the big white building just along in the picture was a banna ware house storage depot
and if mike can ; unless he as done so already look at next door shop its one of hardy willis;s first shoe shops in brum
so that could also had to the detection of the potoe mans bussiness for that period
but the boarding with the name and queens crest was there ;where ever it was in the early fortys
and also the reason why i have said that because my grand parents lived along the rd
best wishes astonion ;;
