Of course It's Heathfield House?. Have to have a look at who owned it a Paul somebody or other. Bye. Jean.

Good answer Lloyd and not a bus or tram in sight, You are of course correct but you didn't say who else lived there or where it is.

Now that Lloyd has given the answer to the house which was in my old stomping ground, can I say that James Watt lived there, and is it in Heathfield Road, Handsworth?

Sorry. I don't know offhand who else lived there, but Heathfield Rd Handsworth is where it was until knocked down in about 1927. Further up Heathfield Road at the junction with Villa Road stood the Villa Cross cinema, and my dad's shop was a little further on. I wondered why the road got its name, and research a couple of years ago brought my attention to the house (or Heathfield Hall, as it was first known).

It was of course Heathfield House / Hall built for James Watt in parkland c1790 it was bordered by North and West Drives Handsworth. As Dave says George Tangye and his family lived there after the death of Watt.
