Weston Road Workhouse

Can anyone tell me please if the records of the workhouse and the infirmary have been kept. My Gt Grandfather James Oldfield, born 1858, was admitted there 25th March 1915, and died there 10th Aug 1924. It would be nice to know if he spent all those years in the infirmary or not. Thank You.

Barrie.

Hello

My Great Great Grandmother Laura Turner Died Approx 1926, has been said in the family that she died in this workhouse.

Will be grateful for info.

Many Thanks;)

Hello Minnie, to find out for sure where your grandmother died you need to see her death certificate. Weston Road Workhouse had an infirmiry as well as living accomodation. Many of our ancestors would have been taken into the infirmiry when they were sick. If you go to the search box at the head of the forum page, you will find many posts on the Workhouses of Birmingham.

And, just for the record it was Western Road, not Weston.
There are some other threads on this subject, if you try the search engine.
