Waterloo Hotel. Smethwick

I was reading a cutting from 1974 on midland pubs. After the Barton arms it went on to the Waterloo Hotel. As a point of interest it stated that in the loo (presumably the gents as richard Boston was male) was an upright piano, for no apparent reason. Perhaps it was just there for the one day and Richard happened to chooses that day for a visit. If not then does anyone remember this, most importantly why it was there.

Dunno about the gent's loo (obviously!) but they did brilliant steaks there. The had a fire and grid in the centre of the room and used to throw the steaks on there to be cooked.
Elf 'n Safety would have a heart attack now.
