Have found her birth records I belive and have sent off in hopes that they will be listed but just wondering if anyone else has her on their tree or knows if I am able to search records for children's homes ect. Belive she had a sister poss Alice and maybee a Brother. Later she married twice once to someone called Atkins (who died) and then to a Hinks Any advice gratefully received Maria

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

There's an Evelyn Walters on the 1911 aged 7 (age may be rounded up?) with a sister Elizabeth aged 9 and a brother William aged 3. Parents are Annie and William Walters and they were living in West Bromwich Street,Oldbury at the time. Annie was from Pontypool,Wales and William from Sedgley.
This could be her birth cert details.

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Wow, I'm very impressed, I looked at the 1911 but only by the summery books but couldn't find anything (think it's only listed by the head of household) and the birth record is the one that I have sent off for. It certainly seems to fit in nicely with the info I have, her daughter said she thought the elder sister was called Alice but that may be wrong and she did think she was much much older so an older one may have left home. I'm really excited now and will try looking for the death certs of parents to see when they died. It certainley looks very likely though doesn't it. Thank you so much Maria.

In this family, William and Annie had been married 11 years and had 3 living children and 2 who had died by the time of the 1911 census.
William was a "Bolter down (at rolls)" employed at "Iron works", 35 years old born Sedgley, Staffs. His birth may be William James Walters, 4th quarter 1875 Dudley vol 6c page 150
Annie, also 35, was born "Ponty Pool,Wales"

The 3 children are all born Heath Town, Staffs (a district in the North East of Wolverhampton).
Possible births for the surviving children are:
Elizabeth Walters, 3rd quarter 1901, Wolverhampton vol 6b page 649
Evelyn Emma Walters, 3rd quarter 1904, Wolverhampton vol 6b page 673 (does not fit with your person's 'Daisy' middle name)
William James Walters, 2nd quarter 1907, Wolverhampton vol 6b page 630 (this fits, being the father's name given to first male child)

Somehow, I don't think this is the right family.

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Evelyne (sometimes Evelyn) Daisy Walters married Charles Harry Atkins, 3rd quarter 1926. In 1930 they lived at 4 Chinley Grove, Perry Barr.

Evelyne D Atkins married Leonard D Hinks, 3rd quarter 1938. In 1945/50 they lived at 133 Rivington Crescent, Perry Barr/Kingstanding.

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Hi Lloyd, thank you so much for all your investigations. my mom in Law who is her daughter has told me that she was married twice and gave me the name Atkins so I belive that is totally right. She didn't know his first name so that opens up a new branch for me to reserch. Re your first post the birth that I have found is for Evelyn Daisy and her daughter seems very sure of this. However the date of birth is close and it is the right part of the country. I have sent off for a copy of Evelyns birth Cert and should hopefully recieve it any day now so that may tell us more. The parents are supposed to have both died when she was Eight and she was then raised in a children's home untill she went into service but I haven't as yet found any death certificates for William and Annie. Apparentley she worked in the household of the lord Mayor of Birmingham, I would love to find out if that is true, I wonder if there are any records of it. Thank you once again Maria

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Hi everyone who has been so kind and looked into this for me, I now have Evelyns Birth Certificate and I believe it is the correct one as the exact date of birth is correct at 5th June 1905 (it is 6d 296 so you were right about that) Her parents are listed as Alice and George Walters Alice formally Cartwright she was at born at 18 Charlotte place, Long Acre Aston. Checked it out with her daughter and she recalls her mother Evelyn mentioning having an elder sister called Alice (so would fit with this) and recalled her mother mentioning Long Acre which I belive was by Nechells in Birmingham. However have looked for both parents and there are quite a few Walters and have been unable to narrow it down. She would have lived with her parents until they both died when she was Eight so I think my only hope is to find a listing of them together perhaps with a sister Alice in 1911. Have looked but only have the summery books at present so not much help as it only lists head of household. Tried to search records to see if they were living at Charlotte place but unsure what I'm doing and didn't know how to find the district no so would have to wade through 30 or so books. I don't have a previous census to copy these detail off is there another way to get them. Any ideas much appreciated and thank you so much for all the help you have given us so far. Regards Maria

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Thank you ladylinda, can't belive how quickley you find things, I spent a couple of hours looking last night and still didn't get anywhere. How did you find the district, I just had to wade though page by page, is there an easier way? Oh well that's one idea down, was hoping they may still be there, but thank you very much anyway Maria

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

George Walters / Alice Cartwright marriage 4th quarter 1897 Birmingham vol 6d page 67.

Re: Evelyn Daisy Walters

Thank you so much Lloyd, that would fit in with Alice being born in 1898 and Evelyn 1905,If I order that it should give me the parents names and occupations should it not? Thanks again Maria
