The masters of the half-back line were undoubtedly Pearson, Windmill and Leake. Not only on the field but in the classroom too. After World War 1
Windmill and Pearson (students at Saltley College together) took up scholastic positions. Joe became headmaster at Wollaston. C.O.E. School Stourbridge also qualifying as a League referee, and serving as Mayor of Stourbridge 1941-43 whilst Windmill took charge of Brook Street School, Wordsley
for many years. Alec leake was the comedy part of the Will Hay type!
