The omen seemed good for the Club season 1923-4 as triumphant wins in
Queen Victoria's Diamond and Jubilee years saw them hold the F.A. Cup. Alas!
it was not to be The Villa finished sixth in the old Division One. The strong defence conceding only 37 goals in 42 League games but the disappointment
of being losing F.A.Cup finalists was hard to bear. Two 'Tommies' Smart and Mort were oicked for England v Wales that season Link up soon WAK
