My father-in-law has watched the Villa for 84 years, he says Billy Walker is the greatest Villa player he's seen.

Hi Carol Watts Thanks for post ask him for some anecdotes and please post them. It
will make interesting reading from a wise man! Link up soon WAK

I will as he is known as Mr Villa, he still works at the ground and is down there tonight at a reserve game. He was 90 last week!! He loves Billy Walker and has met the great man himself.

Thank you Carol, Please get down as much detail as possible. His recollections from that
period 1920 to date is very important coming from an eye witness Link up soon WAK P.S

Yes I used to go in the Yew Three till about 10 years ago. Don't have a drink before the game anymore, but make up for it after!!!

My grandmother always used to tell me that our family was related to Billy - a fact I've never been able to verify! He used to met up with my grandfather who lived in Kingstanding. A couple of years ago I purchased Billy's 1959 book 'Soccer In The Blood' on eBay to get some further clues - I was able to add to his family but never found out when he got married on the account he always wrote about 'my wife' without actually adding her name! A true Villa great.

Hi Chrisn, Interesting post. Extra details Billy died 28111964. Played as an amateur for Villa as early as 1915. Guested for Birmingham 1916/17 and Wednesbury Old Park 1916/18

Hi. My name is Dean Beresford and am the grandson of Villa great Joe Beresford who was team-mate/good-mate of Billy Walker. I've created a facebook page in tribute to Joe and if you follow this link it will take you directly to photos of Billy from my grandad's collection:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...18017511.59803.186878374698152&type=1&theater

If you navigate around the photo galleries you'll find plenty of pics of Joe's days at The Villa. I've captioned each photo with as much info as I could gather. There's a great pic of Billy at my grandparents wedding in the 'family' album.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish.

Cheers
Up The Villa
Dean
