His real name was George Edward Wade and played as an amateur with Millwall F.C. he worked as a young engineer on the cable tram track from Colmore Row to Handsworth turning out for the local Rugby Football Club. Charity matches were played just before the First World War between George's International XI and the Villa (who won the G.Robey Cup 1907 and 1910) Personally involved, the famous comedian often partnered Billy Meredith on the right wing Please add interesting facts to this thread
