The first of four F.A. Cup wins all at the Crystal Palace (1895, 1897, 1905 and 1913) Obviously class and glass went together. Only one defeat to Sunderland at home but knocking them out of the Cup in the semi-final.
Albert Road school Aston produced the gentle Howard Spencer making his debut at Perry Barr on the 11th October Two months later the sad news of Archie Hunter's death at only 35 saddened the club A granite monument
was erected in Witton cemetery by his football comrades stating a lasting tribute to his ability and as a man WAK.

Picture and match report from the FA Cup Final. I love this from the report

"The sun shone brilliantly in an almost cloudless sky, and the happy, contented nature of the attendance can be gauged on remembering that one bellman was sufficient to clear the playing field of spectators both at the commencement of the match and at half time."

I have been on the web looking for information regards the theft of the FA Cup in 1895 and there isn't a lot there, or, there is and i can't find it. I don't have much interest in footy but my g/kids are nuts about it so when i was contacted by a new found family relative who says a member of the family was involved in the theft i thought it might be worth checking out. Is it just a family story or is there any truth in it, i don't know, so i thought why not ask those who just might, the person in question is William Langdell, a bit of a scoundrel and womaniser who lived just off the Lichfield Rd by Ansells and HP

Ain't that just typical ... The FA Cup gets stolen while its in the hands of the Villa. If you want more info, ask Wak, Baron or Alf, they were probably there when it was nicked.

I do not know where else to post this. 1886

Stitcher, Hey Up...I know where you can post this, open up a new thread and call it Rogues Gallery....Wait a minute, isn't that Mr Delighted O'Neill on the left of the photo?

Beamish, I am not into football, I came across that whilst looking for something else.Have got just a picture or is it from a book?

Stitcher, I can tell you're not into footie....otherwise you wouldn't have posted this picture. Keep Right On!

How on earth would posting that picture alert you to the fact that I am not into soccer?

I take you dont support them then. I have not been to a football match since the Gil. Merrick days at St Andrews.

Greetings Stitcher,

You're not wrong there. I was down St Andrews watching Gil Merrick with you...and Eddie Brown, Spud Murphy, Gordon Astall, Alex Govan...I used to pop in to the "BLUES CAFE" on the Cov to get their autographs. Remember Jeff Hall? Now your talking....
