Vicarage Road, Edgbaston - 1940-1944.

I have recently been loaned these photographs showing Home Guard Despatch Riders in the period 1940-1944.

The first appears to show houses in Vicarage Road. Could any member familiar with Edgbaston please advise me whether these properties are recognised and, if so, give an opinion about the location of the photograph - the driveway of a house opposite, perhaps?

The second image is in another location - it could be another part of Birmingham or it could still be in Edgbaston. The only clues are the sign for the "Fountain Inn" in the background (near to the officer) and the dim outline of an unknown building. Any ideas please?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Chris
