Hi there, I'm still researching the Vernon family on my husband's behalf. I definately know that Sydney Vernon born 1908, died in 1968 as his death was registered in June of that year. I'm trying to locate the 2 sons John and Ronnie who should be now around 79 and 65? Any idea how I could find out where they both now live, It would be very much appreciated. I know John married Sheila Knight and that's as far as I know and Ronnie seems to have some connection with Yorkshire?
Many thanks
Karen

The Vernon's family lived in kingedwards road Ladywood in a big Victorian house up until 1957 as I recall the two brothers
As we was growing up I also lived in kingedwards rd myself and we all went to stewards street school
There big house had about four big steps to enter the front door
Kingedwards road was in two sections one half was what we called the big half that went right up to the city. Centre by bringley place
And the other section was the small half of kingedwards red whereas lived at number 243 king Edwards road
There number was a very high number and at the bottom of our half also growing up was sheila knight of spring hill
Passage my late brother in law used to run a auction every week at the Richmond pub
Unfortuneatelyi have not seen them both since the late seventys earlier
Eightys. I thought starting back with king Edwards you may get some feed back best of wishes astonian

Hi Josie,
Thank you so much for that, I am going to write to them on behalf of my husband. I will let you know how I get on. I wonder if Ronnie is living in Yorkshire, maybe I will find that out later.

Thank you Astonian, that is something I can do further research on, I have now got an address for John so will see how it goes from there. Do you happen to know if there was another sibling as someone once mentioned a daughter?
Karen

Karen, the person you know as John, Sydney John Vernon married Sheila Knight 1959.
They are both on the the 2014 UK Electoral roll index, I do not subscribe so I cannot tell you which area they are living in.
If you subscribe you can get the address.

Hi,

My wife Sheila, whose mum worked for Syd Vernon in the early sixties, believes that he was
at the Richmond until his death, and that his wife and elder son continued there for some time.

I never knew Syd personally, but my mother taught piano to Ronnie Vernon.

Anyone remember Syd's Airedale dog, which used to stand on the single storey roof
at the Bordesley Green East end of the pub and bark at passers by.

Kind regards

Dave

Hi Dave,
Yes my Dad told me about his Airdale dog that he used to have. I think Syd passed away in 1968, my mom and dad who knew him well lived over the road, then moved from there in 1964. Thanks for the info you sent me, really hope, I will hear from John the eldest son but will have to wait and see?
Kind Regards
Karen
