Maryvale Rd & Bournville Lane, I think Griffin Brook Lane might be a slight problem though.I have never seen one, but you know what I always say. "Its out there somewhere". By the way, I'm sure I have seen photos of both these roads on the forum somewhere.

not quite what you asked, but here is the gateway of griffin's brook house about 1909, which is just off the map I posted earlier (on the part which is now cob lane, you can see the aprt of the name , but not the house on the map). The house was knocked down a long time ago

thanks a lot phil and mike...these will go into shirleys folder...mike i would think her ancestors must has passed the house many times....

lyn..

phil and mike..i have just been reading up on a book about the cadburys and have come accross another pic of bournville lane showing the the cottages that were built for cadbury workers..there was 20 in all...both of shirleys grandparents worked for cadburys before leaving for canada in the early 1900s so i think as this is one of the addresses she has for them it may be safe to asume that they lived in a cadbury cottage..will try and scan it...

these are great liz. shirleys grandad was a carpenter for cadburys and her grandmother a cocoa packer..this would i think have been around the 1890s...will have to confirm that with her tomorrow....i shall add these to my growing collection of pics...

many thanks...

No184 is on the corner of cedar road, and would certainly be either a bournville village trust house or a Cadbury Bros house (the two were later combined under the trust), as I think all bournville lane to the west of the railway bridge was one of the two. No 60 would have been on the corner of oxford road and not part of the estate. I think the Maryvale road address was also part of the trust land.

Lyn here is a picture of the Stirchley end of bournville lane c 1908. No 60 would have been in the far distance on the right.

Not to far from Griffins Brook Lane at the top of Hole Lane Stands Windmill Hill. I wonder if there was one there at some time and perhaps Shirleys ancesters had knowledge of it.

Have found a little titbit. It is from a small book "Bournville Then & Now" by Margaret a Broomfield published to celebrate the Centenery of the bournville village Trust and is below. Incidently the Griffens Brook house is (well was when book was written about 2000) still there called "The Holdings"
