Vale Street, Birmingham

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where Vale Street was in Birmingham.

In 1851 it was in the St Jude parish but I am unable to locate its position on today's maps.

Many Thanks

phill

Hi Phillip,

St Judes Parish was around Hill Street central B,ham so this old street could have been

demolished before Queensway Tunnel & other road works in that quarter mile around there.

Other folks on here may have old maps to assist you further,
Good luck John Y

Thanks Bernie

Looks like Vale street is now under New Street station, it looks like it ran parallel with Hill St.

Many thanks for your help, I knew you lot would come up with the goods, as always, you can't beat local knowledge

Thanks

Phill

Here is a c1839 map,

Hi. I have a death certificate that gives the place of death as 38 Vale Street, Birmingham. This was in 1957. Sub-district recorded as Deritend.
Can anyone help pinpoint the location please or advise if there was a hospital in this area in 1957?

Ther eseems to be no Vale St listed in directories then. there is a Vale Place and The Vale, but neither are
Deritend. Is it possible to show us a copy of the place name on the document

hi mike looking at your old 1839 map on post 4 i would have thought that vale st had gone by 1957 ? could be wrong though

I agree. I think it would be underneath New St station. I would guess that the the writing is a bit difficult to read, and it is not Vale
