Turfpits Lane primary school

HI, does anybody know anything about Turfpits Lane primary school? It is now rebuilt and is Oasis Academy Short Heath. In the mid 60's until 1973 the head teacher was Mrs Hurdman.

I went to that school for a year when I was 10/11 years old. I was in Mr Almey’s class. It was primarily wooden hut style construction and there were a couple of mounds at the side of the playground that I believe were the buried remnants of old air-raid shelters although I cannot confirm that. The year I was there was also the year of the Aberfan disaster and Mr Almey came in and told us about it as we were the oldest group. Even at that age we were shocked at what we heard.
