Hello,

Can anyone tell me what a person working as a Tube Floater actually did please?

Paul

when you worked in a foundry or a hot metal forge, there would be men ,
and some of them whom would operate a furnace,s
and they would have a team of men
around them to help to extract the hot metal from the press,s which produce,s tubes,
and they would have men whom would relieve men in the team
whom would pull and extract the hot drawing of metal these was called tube floater,s
i worked at tube,s in rocky lane aston in the forge, and i was an over head crane driver
towering over these men with the hot steel .
as well, every four hours or so we would take over from sombody,

Thank you. That sounds like quite a job for a 16 year old boy.

Paul

This may also have been a filing job in this case the filing of tubes? this is what the dictionary of occupational terms refers to........
