Re: Tubb Family

think the tubbs you refer to are the family of richard tubb, related to daniel tubb whos father was a black patch gypsy called reg tubb who bare knuckle boxed around brum

I have a number TUBBs in my family, all descendants of a Joseph TUBB (circa 1798, Poplar MDX to 1871) who married a Maria PALSER (circa 1799, Coaley GLS to 1863).

So far none of the names mentioned have cropped up on my database and all lived & worked in Birmingham)

tubb family lived on twickenham road, danny died a number of years ago now, victor who lived there too also died as did john tubb of jockey road...jim margaret and roland are still alive,

his brother vic also worked there, roland known as reg is still alive and there sister margaret, jim is in australia and the rest have died, danny had a daughter gail too

Shaun did Danny have twins and a slightly handicapped boy? only I saw his son only yesterday and is now in a wheelchair. Jean.

not sure about that,i think he had a couple of daughters gail and chris,in ref to the disabled lad it may be his grandson as danny would be nearly 82 now if he had lived, but amazingly there was 2 seperate familys called tubb in twickenham rd but did not know each other,so it may be from that family,

found out today danny did have a disabled son called carl I think, yes you have the right chap, his older brother roland is still alive today he is 83

I knew Danny through the Ansells club where we would have a get together most Saturdays when our children were younger. They may remember Pete Smith who was on the brewing but Pete can only remember Danny.

Hi everyone, my name is Simon McCabe, son of John and Yvonne McCabe, and my granddad is John Tubb (now deceased) of Jockey Rd married to Patricia Tubb (nee Cowley). I am trying to research my family tree and know that John Tubb had quite a few siblings of which I know were two brothers called Victor and Danny. I know his father was called Reginald and his mother was called 'Dolly' who Patricia Tubb (John's wife) said 'had something gypsy in her' but knew nothing else about her... I wanted to know if anyone has traced the family history and would be willing to help me out with any details at all. I never got to meet my Grandad's brothers or sisters and know nothing about them. I have some pictures of John Tubb with his mother Dolly Tubb and his brother Victor Tubb which I'm attaching to this post. If anyone has photos/information/know where people were born, died or where they are buried/anything like that I'd be really thankful for your help. Also if anyone can verify that Dolly was of gypsy original that would be great. Also was that her real name? I know she was married before hand too so if anyone knows anything about that, that would be helpful. Where were the black patch gypsys from? If there is any truth in the Dolly was a gypsy hear say I'd bet she was from Black Patch. I'd also be interested in learning more about more recent family e.g. John Tubb's brothers and sisters spouses and children. If anyone has any questions for me I'd be glad to answer what I can. Cheers, - Simon

...In looking over this thread it looks like Roland (Reg) may have been John Tubb's brother. If anyone knows him or his relatives and might ask him if I can get his address to help with the family tree that would be great. More pics below. What is that a tattoo of on Vicky's chest?

For anyone researching or interested in the Tubbs of Birmingham. I have quite alot of information now with 358 people in the family tree and growing! I am working with several other members of the family. If you have any interest in seeing what we've put together or stories, photos or other information to offer, please don't hesitate to get in touch! Cheers, - Simon

I was so interested to come across this post, as my father was charles Ernest Haylor, whose grandfather was, I believe the Charles Haylor you refer to above.
George Haylor was one of his eighteen children, a grandfather I never had the privilege of meeting as he was killed (but never found) in WWI and his name is on the Menin gate at Ypres.

John TUBB came from the Erdington side of Kingstanding. (Short Heath ?) He married my mother's cousin Rita WHEALE. They lived in Erdington during the 60's & 70's, moving to Southampton in the 80's. John was a Bookie in Erdington, Rita worked in Boots, both the old & new shop. John has recently retired. They have two children and 4 grandchildren.
