Trafficators

Bill Parker

master brummie
Ladies and Gentleman,

I have decided to post a "wanted" here and despite it being a rather long shot my motto is "Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained" well to be honest it's not my motto really as mine is propably unprintable!

However back to my reason for posting, as some of you might know, well Mr Penfold will, I am involved with the Transport Group at the Black Country Living Museum and amongst other things we are in the final stages of completing the restoration of Ex West Bromwich Daimler CVG6 No 174.

It was decided some time back to complete the bus in its as delivered form with black wings ect and with working trafficators that will also flash as well as stick out of the appropriate aperture! We have a set of in the workshop but they are not complete and last weekend I narrowly missed on bidding for a suitable pair on ebay but thats another story!

So ladies and gents we are after a set of 24v CAV type T1 units ideally working but we will consider non-working providing they are complete so in the highly unlikely event you you have some or know someone who has then if they would be willing to part with them I would be most interested.

Thanks for reading this post Cheers Bill

Hi Bill,

If I come across any (unlikely but it might just happen) I will let you know. I had a visit back in May and the Daimler looked really well and coming along nicely.

Try contacting "Clare Pendrouse" she is a bus person, and did have a have a quite a big store of various bus part at Bewdley, .....you can contact her via Flicker I expect.....

I would like to thanks all those who responded to my original post, I can now not only inform you that we have got the originals working, thanks to a rather talented electrician, but can actually show you an image of them doing just that. They now do something that they never did when originally fitted, they flash as well and I took this photo this morming of the N/S one during a flash.

Great to see the restoration coming on so well. Along with Birmingham City Transport the livery of West Bromwich Corporation has to be one of the finest that I have ever seen.

Thanks John, below is a link to the last photo I took of 174, sorry the quality could be better a few more jobs have been carried out since this was taken including the wiring of the headlamps. The black wing on the right of the photo still needs to be painted but it has been decided to leave that until last as its bound to get scratched with other jobs being carried out in that area. we await the new specially made moquette from Holdsworth and when the trimmer has done his job we can start on installing the 56 seats.
